"A life-long poet, [Bennett's] work started to become well-known in the 1970s. Since that time, he has become one of the world's best-known avant-garde and experimental poets. He has worked in a wide variety of genres, including text, visual poetry, graphics, sound and performance poetry, mail art, film and media, and has collaborated with other writers and artists from around the globe. He was also editor of the international literary journal 'Lost and Found Times', 1975-2005. Richard Kostelanetz has said, 'John M. Bennett has been the seminal American poet of my generation because he has produced so much luminous work in a bewildering variety of experimental modes.'"
